There is a special kind of patience that comes with waiting for fall in Texas.
As August begins to fade, many of us start looking forward to cooler mornings, comfortable evenings, and the first signs that summer is finally letting go. We dream of crisp air, football games, pumpkin-flavored treats, cozy sweaters, and the beautiful colors that autumn promises to bring.
But Texas has its own idea of fall. While other places may already be enjoying cool temperatures and changing leaves, Texas often holds on to summer just a little longer. The sun remains strong, the days stay warm, and we find ourselves checking the weather forecast, hoping to see that first real drop in temperature.
Still, there is something beautiful about the waiting. Fall reminds us that seasons change in their own time. We don’t have to rush them. We can simply enjoy the final warm days of summer while preparing our hearts and homes for a new season.
Soon, the evenings will become cooler, the air will feel different, and fall will quietly arrive.
Until then, Texans wait, with a little patience, a cold drink in hand, and perhaps a pumpkin spice latte nearby ready to welcome autumn when it finally decides to show up.
